The ABC pool was the venue for the sporting triumphs of Australian swimming legend Andrew (Boy) Charlton in the 1920′s and is believed to be the birthplace of the Australian Crawl or freestyle swimming stroke. Boy Charlton won a gold medal in the 1500m freestyle at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He then went on to set five world records & also won a further three silver & one bronze medal in his Olympic career.
